From Near-Death to Spiritual Awakening: Amulya Shastri’s Story

Hi everyone..!

My name is “Amulya” and I am from New Delhi.

Meditation or the journey into Spirituality.. began I think when I was in fifth standard..

I was in a Christian school but a Hindu. At home we used to do “Ganesh Chathurthi” celebration and hindu festivals. In school we used to recite “Our father in heaven and hymns and carols and all of that”. I used to wonder what is the difference between these two religions.. and this eternal quest began with “What is God..?”

In fifth standard one of my teachers told me.. after my moral science session.. one of my teachers said that “God is within you”, “What does it really mean..?” that question.. that quest began in terms of a thought subconsciously for me.

In seventh or eighth standard my sister was going through a migraine problem.. and my father was going through illnesses. So, like that we were introduced into “Meditation” and it was more very guru based and we did that.

We did that for two years. I thought “Ok.. let me begin.. why not.. the family is going out for meditation.. ok I will also go with it” and I flew with it. When we did.. It was very guru based and I thought “Ok.. let me just get some good marks with it probably” and despite doing it for two years I did not experience anything essentially with it.

So, slowly we got out of it.. because we didn’t connect with it anymore. And me and my parents decided “We are never not going to get into this guru based system”. Because, once you get into it.. you can’t get out of it. “So let’s just stay out of it”

So, the more and more my dad was going through major illnesses.. so we had to go to something beyond what medicines could not help to heal.

We were introduced to another meditation through a colleague of his. Once we started meditating .. it’s the first time that I sat.. we went to a center in Inderpuri in Delhi. And the first time I sat I actually felt energy.. I felt it so

deeply.. that it shook me thoroughly. And I was like “Ok.. there is something more than what I think I know”

But, I never regularly practised it.. there was no drive for me to do it. So, probably the first kick for me happened when it was my board exams.. those were my pre board exams rather.

And I was a very average student.. I would never get anything more than seventy percent. But I was very clear that I wanted science in the eleventh standard. And for that you need some at least.. eighty seven.. eighty eight percent at least. And I have never seen that kind of marks/grades in my life.

So, I was like “Ok, is that possible through meditation..?”  I asked someone.. they were like “Yes ! it’s possible.. you can actually see your papers before the exam”. I was like “Are you crazy..? Is that even possible..?”. I was like “Ok..

let me just experiment”.

So, I did the forty day challenge.. so it was right before my pre boards.. not that I started at the beginning of tenth standard.. but at the brink when my board was just about to begin.. the preboard and the board. I started meditating

everyday right before my studying.. and before I sleep.. the moment I wake up.. and I start working on my thoughts.

So, I would secretly.. in exam time you are not supposed to be watching movies. I would secretly watch this movie called “The Secret” and I would work on the “Law of Attraction”. I would work on “Visualization” and try to create that reality for myself.

So, I would keep this number in front of my mind.. somehow it just came and it’s like eighty seven. I started developing clarity over my thoughts and my intentions.. and slowly I achieved my marks/grades that I did.

But, something happened.. that I wasn’t that same person I would associate with.. forty days prior. So, I was like this is something very different.. I should definitely continue trying this.

So, once I started doing it.. I realized that I am a vocalist.. a carnatic music vocalist.. I have always been into music since my childhood. My mother got me into it and in every south indian family.. you are always taught either classical

dance or classical music.. and I did that. But, that stuck with me because.. I really resonated with it.

But, with the practice of meditation.. the way that I would approach music itself completely changed. So, this thing came.. “Where is your music coming from..?”

It’s very easy for me to just sing and I can exactly predict when you are going to clap for me.. that is the kind of prediction that you can do.

But, “What about me..?” in the end “Who is left..?” I am left right.. with the music. So, “How do I feel and what am I projecting..?” , “Where is my music coming from..?” that kind of eternal quest started happening.

So, slowly with that.. I started understanding dance also way more. I am a contemporary dancer.

But, again that question within that.. “Who am I..?”, “What am I..?” , “Where is this coming from..?” , “What should I be doing..?” , “What is my purpose..?” , “Why am I here..?” , “Why am I in this body..?” All of these kinds of questions started happening.

Slowly, with meditation I started seeing visions.. I would have a severe headache that ran for one year.. it’s more than a migraine.. and this kind of DNA change was happening within me.. that I could experience.

Because, I started meditating.. I would not enjoy just going out with friends.. and randomly going for a quick bite. I would seek conversations that were.. way more than just casual small talk. I would like to share my experience about “Meditation..” I would want everyone to have deeper talks within.

So, everytime I meet someone.. I would definitely put a seed of “Meditation” nevertheless.. and ensure that at least even if they were not resonating with “Meditation..” they would at least become a “Vegetarian..” and put that seed within.

So, as and when this happened.. The sort of vibe and ripples started happening in Delhi and North India itself. We started going from door to door.

We would share.. first beginning with our friends itself. You begin.. charity begins at home.. right. So, you begin with your family first.. and then your closer relatives.. then further in our colonies and so to say.

Once we did that.. we started realizing.. “We have to have a bigger vision for this.. we have to reach out to more people”. So, slowly we were like “We have got visualizers.. we have got artists within us.. we have got writers within us.. and we have a few concepts.. a few things.. we are reading.. we are exploring.. so let’s come up with a magazine”

We came up with a magazine called “Its Yours”. Slowly, as we realized print is shifting to digital.. We were just like “Let us illuminate and expand this to a bigger vision called SENSEi..” which is an initiative of seekers.. and enablers of “Self-Empowerment”.

So, through that we started going to parks.. we would do these things called social experiments.. which we continue to do now also. Where, because I am a musician.. we have got four musicians.. we all go to parks.. and one thing that

brings everyone together is music right.. so, through music.. bringing everyone together.

We would go to public parks.. do music in public spaces and we would just tell passers by to come and “Why don’t you just try something called Meditation..? It’s very simple.. you don’t have to pay a penny for it. But, it will bring massive results for you..” we would share our experiences.. there is no gyaan/knowledge in this.

There is a lot of myth surrounding “Meditation..” which we would break with our own experiences. And slowly once we started doing that.. a lot of people started connecting.. and they started realizing that.. “Meditation” is not a “Babaji/Guru”thing. “Meditation..” is for everyone. It can be done anytime.. it can be done anywhere.. it is very very simple.. all of those sort of myths started breaking with personal experiences.

Then, we started doing a larger event called “Swa Anubhav/Self experience”. So, it is a larger event “Swa Anubhav..” essentially means “Your experience/Self experience. And, doing it at smaller venues and with our grander vision with “Patri sir” being our master. He would tell us to just “Think big.. think miraculously..” that is the

kind of experience that has come.. as a result of “Meditation”

“Life..!” it has a new meaning would be an

understatement.. it’s completely living a complete new life altogether.. knowing your grander vision and aligning to the grander vision of the collective.

Because we are not here.. just to do roti/basic food.. kapada/basic clothing.. makaan/basic shelter or just having regular jobs.

I work in advertising.. and my day to day life.. I work in advertising.. I do strategy for them. My life.. My profession is to tell stories.. and simultaneously working on “Pyramid Meditation Channel (PMC) Hindi..” and simultaneously doing music and dance.. and doing such grand events.

If this isn’t.. this a grander vision.. is this roti.. kapada.. makaan.. “Is this your going to the office.. coming back.. getting a good house.. having a family.. having a lot of money.. is that really the Purpose..? or “What is really the Purpose?”

If that is the question.. which is within you then.. I think you have to definitely give “Meditation..” a try. It’s not a

try.. it’s just going to become a practice.. because the time is now for you to begin “Meditation..”

I am sure there are umpteen number of things.. that can replace “Meditation” for you.. at this moment. But, I would say give it a try.. give it a practice. Once you do that.. I guarantee you that.. it will completely change your life. Because, we are here.. not just as a usual self. We are all light coming.. into this form to help.. spread the message and live.. go back to light and understand that.. we are light while we are here in this physical form.

We are all one .. there is no difference between you and me.. “We are all souls living in this body”

Thank you very much..!
